Health Surveillance

Health surveillance puts in place systematic, regular and appropriate procedures to detect early signs of work-related ill health among employees who are exposed to certain health risks. The requirement for health surveillance is referred to, in general terms, under the Management of The Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999. There is also a specific requirement under various other Regulations, including:

  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002
  • Control of Lead at Work Regulations 2002
  • Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002
  • Work and Compressed Air Regulations 1996
  • Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999
  • Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2006
  • Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005
